Contemplative Guide

Peg McCormick

A practice of presence. A path of inquiry.

What is A Contemplative GuidE?

What is a contemplative guide? A companion who helps you slow down, pay attention, and trust your own inner wisdom, through meditation, mindfulness, and reflective inquiry. That's the role I've grown into. I help people meet their lives with openness and discover the basic goodness that's already within them.

You are not broken. You are whole.

How it differs

Therapist

A licensed mental health professional, such as a psychologist, counselor, or clinical social worker, who assesses, diagnoses, and treats mental health conditions and emotional difficulties. Therapy often explores past experiences and patterns to relieve suffering and support healing, and it's regulated by state licensing boards.

Coach

A professional who helps people clarify goals and take action toward them in areas like career, relationships, or personal growth. Coaching focuses on the present and future rather than on diagnosing or treating mental health conditions, and it isn't licensed or state-regulated.

Spiritual Counseling

Guidance that addresses life challenges, questions of meaning, or emotional struggles through a spiritual or religious lens, often offered by clergy, chaplains, or spiritually oriented counselors. It's typically more problem-focused than spiritual direction and may draw on a particular faith tradition.

Spiritual Direction

A practice in which a trained companion, called a spiritual director, meets regularly with someone to help them notice and deepen their relationship with the sacred, however they understand it. The director listens and reflects rather than advising, trusting that the person's own spiritual wisdom will unfold.

If this resonates, I would welcome a conversation.
